At 12:17 a.m., in the corral area northwest of Homestead 1, Lewis and Jackson smelled a strong methane odor lasting approximately 20 seconds. At approximately 2:00 a.m., near Tower 2, Jackson smells an overpowering odor of sweet pipe tobacco. Lewis later verifies the same odor at the exact location.
