Hastings reports that Raymond Fowler learned from a former launch-control officer that ten Minuteman missiles in one Malmstrom flight simultaneously malfunctioned while a UFO was reported near the LCF. The exact flight could not later be recovered. David Hughes separately reported repeated unusual lights near Malmstrom in 1966–67 but could not connect his observations to the alleged shutdown.
