Hastings describes Ken Williams’s report of a bright dome-like object descending into a deep ravine near Belt and later departing. Contemporary press covered the event and an Air Force telex reportedly confirms sheriff-to-Malmstrom notification. Jamison later associated the ravine radio traffic with an Oscar restart night, but the linkage is not independently established.
